NOTICE OF A PUBLIC MEETING

Netherbury Village Hall, Saturday 27TH March at 3:00 P.M.

The Friends of St Mary's

Our beautiful 14th Century, Grade 1 listed, Church of St Mary has served our rural community down the centuries and it is an enduring focal point for villagers and for our many friends and visitors.

However, with increasing costs of repair and maintenance your Parochial Church Council has listened to ideas from members of our village community and decided to launch a Friends Scheme to raise support and secure additional funding to meet these costs into the future.
All monies raised by the Friends will be held in a secure fund reserved solely for the care of the fabric of the church building and its grounds.

This is an opportunity for all villagers and those with family links past and present, who are interested in the preservation of our church, to support this special part of their heritage.
A Friends Scheme is the way we can make it possible for all to make a positive contribution to the preservation of St Mary's, now and for future generations.

The PUBLIC MEETING will introduce and explain the reasons and objectives for The Friends of St Mary's and request any final nominations before voting in the Founding Committee and opening membership to all. The Constitution of The Friends may be read on the church notice board or on the Netherbury page at www.beaminsterteam.org

We welcome your interest, your support and your involvement in The Friends of St Mary's, whether or not you worship in the church.
If you cannot be with us and wish to join The Friends do please phone Jacky or Steve so that we can send you a brief report of proceedings and a membership application form.

To open our concert season we welcome the Ishirini Singers accompanied by Cambridge Organ Scholar Jeremy Rouse on Saturday 10th April at 7:30 p.m.
Their concert will take us on a musical journey across centuries and cultures from the serenity of Allegri's Miserere to Howells' stunning response to the death of JFK, Take Him Earth for Cherishing. The evening will feature a unique piece of musical heritage, the 13th Century Netherbury Manuscript, discovered under the floorboards of the clock chamber of the church in 1964. Tickets from Jacky Bush 01308 488 303 or Steve Adams 488 994 at £8 in advance and £10 on the door.

Ascension Day, Thursday 13th May brings a unique opportunity to enjoy a varied evening of Russian sacred music and folk songs performed by a baroque choir from St Petersburg. More details of the programme and timing will follow nearer the date.
